Valery Martínez

Center for the Study of Social Policy

Valery Martínez is a policy and research assistant at the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) in Washington, DC. She monitors and analyzes current legislation on child welfare and immigration policy, and the impact they have on the well-being of children, youth, and families. Prior to joining CSSP, Valery was an Emerson National Hunger Fellow at the Congressional Hunger Center and worked with the San Diego Hunger Coalition to expand federal youth meal programs across San Diego County. Valery was born and raised in San Jose, CA, and graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in human development and a minor in nutrition.

She is a 2019 participant in AICGS’ “Transatlantic Young Leadership Program: Giving Voice to Diversity,” sponsored by the AT&T Foundation.
