A Conversation with Reinhard Bütikofer

On July 17, 2013, AGI hosted a roundtable discussion with German MEP Reinhard Bütikofer. Moderated by Dr. Jackson Janes, President of AGI, the discussion considered the interaction of major current events, including the NSA surveillance scandal, upcoming German elections, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), and the euro zone crisis.
Among these, prominent topics included the potential effects of the NSA scandal on TTIP negotiations, the data privacy debate in Germany, the practicality of TTIP within the context of the euro zone crisis, income inequality in Germany, and the effects of austerity and possible alternative policies.
