Renewal or Reversal?

On November 15, 2019, AGI hosted the third event of the Allianz Geoeconomics Speaker Series featuring remarks by Gabriel Felbermayr, President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Gabriel Felbermayr is recognized as one of Germany’s leading trade economists whose contributions to the transatlantic debate on trade deficits have gained recent wide attention, including in PoliticoThe New York Times, and the Financial Times.

Prof. Felbermayr became President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in March 2019. From 2010 to 2019, he led the ifo Center for International Economics at the University of Munich, where he also served as a full professor in International Economics. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, and Associate Editor of the European Economic Review and the Journal of the European Economic Association. He has studied at the University of Linz, the University of Tuebingen, and received his Ph.D. from the European University Institute in Florence.
