Langhammer Luncheon with Senator Chris Murphy

September 18, 2014

Throughout the year, AGI hosts a number of private meetings with policy-makers, corporate leaders, and experts to discuss key developments in German-American relations. We were pleased to be joined at a private luncheon discussion with a special guest, Senator Chris Murphy, on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Senator Murphy is on the Subcommittee on European Affairs and gave his perspective on the Ukraine crisis, the cyber security debate, and the status of the current transatlantic trade negotiations during this off-the-record exchange.

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) was first elected to Congress in 2006 and is now a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on European Affairs. He has made it a focus of his chairmanship of the Subcommittee to build a new economic axis between the U.S. and Europe through TTIP, a new trade agreement that will benefit both continents.

This lunch discussion was made possible by a generous grant from Fred H. Langhammer, Chairman of Global Affairs at the Estée Lauder Companies and AGI Chairman Emeritus. As part of our F.H. Langhammer Series on Public Policy, this event provided a unique opportunity for candid dialogue among a select group of high-level German and American corporate leaders, policymakers, and foreign policy experts.  This invitation is not transferable.
