AICGS Senior Fellow Peter Rashish Joins T20 for Presentation of Communiqué at Summit in Argentina
Washington, DC, September 25, 2018 – AICGS Senior Fellow and Director of the Geoeconomics Program Peter Rashish joined other members of the Think 20 to present its Communiqué to President Mauricio Macri at the September 16-18 T20 Summit in Buenos Aires. The Communiqué contains key public policy recommendations for G20 leaders produced by the T20’s ten Task Forces on issue areas spanning the future of work to trade to artificial intelligence.
Peter Rashish serves on the T20’s Task Force on Trade, Investment, and Tax Cooperation and co-authored a policy brief on “Mitigating the Adjustment Costs of International Trade,” which argues that preemptive measures to strengthen competitiveness can help mitigate adjustment costs associated with trade liberalization and that displaced workers are best helped using generally applied safety nets, not those specific to trade. He is available for interview or comment.
The T20 brings together leading think tank representatives to develop concise, research-based policy recommendations to enable a broader vision in directing the G20 policymaking process. Argentina chaired the T20 in 2018, following Germany in 2017 and ahead of Japan in 2019.
