Missing a Chance, Again

In this article from the Berlin Policy Journal, AICGS Trustee Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger calls for Europe to demonstrate its leadership and a common foreign policy in ending the civil war in Syria.

Now that Germany has decided to contribute to anti-IS operations in Syria, the key question is how to end the Syrian civil war, after our collective failure to confront this task for over four years. This is the challenge facing the entire international community. Aside from a few meetings and a UN Security Council resolution within the framework of the Vienna Process, a credible and sustainable approach to ending the civil war, combining political, financial, military, and regional elements still waits to be developed.  Continue reading at the Berlin Policy Journal.
