MARTIN J. SULLIVAN TO RECEIVE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP AWARD

The American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) will honor Martin J. Sullivan, President and CEO of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), with the Institute's 12th Annual Global Leadership Award on November 2, 2006, in New York City.

The AICGS Global Leadership Award Dinner annually singles out a leading international business figure who has demonstrated unique leadership in the global stage -- leadership that strengthens the transatlantic relationship and reinforces the bonds between Germany/Europe and the United States.

The award will be presented by the Honorable Dr. Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of State and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

In addition to Mr. Sullivan's award, Dr. Wade Jacoby, Associate Professor of Political Science at Brigham Young University in Utah, will be presented with this year's DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Prize for Distinguished Scholarship in German Studies in recognition of his outstanding academic work.

The Global Leadership Award Dinner serves to emphasize the critical role of the German-American dialogue. This year's dinner honoring Mr. Sullivan underscores the importance that the business community plays in fostering a strong transatlantic partnership.  AIG, world leader in insurance and financial services, is a long-time advocate for promoting closer international trade, investment, and cultural ties.  Before he was named President and CEO in 2005 Mr. Sullivan had spent his entire career at AIG building its global insurance operations, with a particular focus on Europe and the U.K.

The Global Leadership Award Dinner evening is closed to the general public, but open to interested members of the media. We hope you will join us; please note that the Dinner is black tie.
