Mr. Christian Eckert

Christian Eckert graduated from Georg-August-University of Göttingen in 2004 with a Diploma in Social Sciences. Since 2005 he has been a doctoral candidate in political science at Georg-August-University. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis, titled "A strong conservative mandate? - Möglichkeiten und Grenzen konservativer Politik am Beispiel der Reformdebatte um Social Security während des 109. Kongresses," and is being supervised by Professor Peter Lösche. His research focuses on the state of American conservatism.
During his stay at the AICGS, Mr. Eckert will analyze the prospects and limits of the current conservative coalition in American politics with regard to social policy. To achieve this goal, his research project will provide insight into the reasons for the rejection of the White House's Social Security reform plans of 2005.
