AICGS and the German American Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a business breakfast on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, with Professor Dr. Hans-Werner Sinn, President of the Ifo Institute Munich on “The Euro Trap – and How to Return the Right Path.”
Dr. Sinn has been an important and widely respected authority on the Eurozone crisis. During this breakfast session, the Ifo President debated whether the monetary union has fulfilled its promises of closer economic integration and prosperity or brought about discord and near collapse. In addition, Dr. Sinn touched on research and analysis from his latest book, “The Euro Trap,” and provide policy recommendations.
Dr. Sinn is one of Europe’s leading voices amidst the debates over the Euro policy. Apart from being the President of the Munich based Ifo Institute he is also the Director of the University of Munich’s Center for Economic Studies and Director of CESifo. He is a member of the Council of Economic Advisors to the German Ministry of Economics as well as former president of the International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF).
