As evidenced by the recent meeting between President Bush and Chancellor Merkel in Crawford, Texas, German-American relations have returned to solid footing. Dr. Colette Mazzucelli, Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Political Science at Molloy College, argues, however, that a single issue could possibly upset that positivity: the continued implementation of missile defense in Europe.

Jennifer Hunt, professor in the Department of Economics at McGill University and a member of the AICGS Senior Advisory Council, examines the grand coalition's recent agreement-in-principle on the extension of the duration of unemployment insurance for the older unemployed in Germany and argues that it will lead to a step backwards for Germany's economy.
