In this Working Paper, sponsored by The German Marshall Fund of the United States, several authors analyze how issues such as energy security and missile defense affect transatlantic relations with Russia.

AICGS is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen Brockmann is the recipient of this year's DAAD  Prize in German and European Studies in the Humanities. Dr. Brockmann will be presented this award at AICGS' 13th annual Global Leadership Award Dinner in New York City in November.

On October 1, 2007, AICGS hosted a workshop on "Russia and its Impact on the Transatlantic Dialogue." With Vladimir Putin's announcement to run for prime minister in the upcoming elections, most participants anticipated a long-term consistency of the current Russian foreign policy.

On Monday October 15, 2007, AICGS hosted Markus Ederer, Head of Policy Planning in the German Federal Foreign Office, for an off-the-record policy discussion on the future of Kosovo. The talk focused on the prospects for a final agreement on the status of Kosovo by December 10, 2007, which represents the deadline for the EU-U.S.-Russia 'Troika' to achieve an agreement between the Kosovo Albanian leadership and Serbia.

On October 31, 2007, AICGS co-hosted with the Congressional Study Group on Germany (CSGG) a luncheon discussion with Ambassador Thomas Matussek, German Ambassador to the United Nations, who was joined by Congressman Bill Delahunt and Congressman Ted Poe. At the luncheon, Ambassador Matussek addressed Germany's role in the United Nations and upcoming challenges for the UN.
