Analysis

Winners, Losers, Winners
In this week's At Issue, Executive Director Dr. Jackson Janes discusses how the Turkish society within Germany has developed a personal stake in Germany even though its integration is still tenuous. Dr. Janes writes that the atmosphere around the recent Germany-Turkey Euro Championship game highlighted both the progress that has been made and how far the relationship with the country's largest minority has to go.

Creating the Transatlantic Marketplace
Daniel Hamilton of Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies writes about the strong economic ties between the EU and U.S. and how a reduction of existing barriers could bring about sustained economic growth. Hamilton also argues that a joining of the EU and the U.S. markets could generate significant benefits in growth, jobs, and consumer welfare on both sides of the Atlantic. This essay is a result of the April 28 AICGS conference on "Globalization, Trade, and Environment," which was sponsored by The German Marshall Fund of the United States.
