Ms. Susanne Dieper

Susanne Dieper is the Administrative Director of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. Ms. Dieper has been engaged in German-American relations for many years, working initially for a German organization that furthers international student and cultural exchange programs between the two countries, and as a translator for a variety of non-profit and for-profit organizations with transatlantic engagements. She joined the Institute in 1992.
As a member of the AICGS senior management team, Ms. Dieper is engaged in the management of operations and programs in support of the Institute's mission. She is responsible for some aspects of the Institute's grants and fellowship programs, and oversees the Institute's human resources and internship programs. She occasionally contributes to The AICGS Advisor.
Ms. Dieper holds an MA in English Linguistics and Literature, History and Spanish from the University of Köln and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University with a concentration in International Business.
Ms. Dieper's research interests focus on non-profit management, organizational structure and strategy and human resources. She is engaged with a number of non-profit groups in the United States and serves as a tutor to other non-profit managers as part of an initiative organized by the Center for Nonprofit Success, providing advice on a variety of issues, including board development, organizational and executive transition, and operational and strategic planning.
