Dr. Dagmar Pruin
Dr. Dagmar Pruin holds a research and teaching position in Old Testament Studies at Humboldt-University Berlin. She was born in 1970 in Leer / East-Freesia and studied Theology at the Universities of Hamburg, Göttingen and Berlin, and Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (via DAAD scholarship from 1993/1994). She holds a M. Div. from the University of Göttingen (1997) and a Ph.D. from the Humboldt-University Berlin (2003). She has been a visiting teacher at the University of Stellenboisch / South Africa and is leading scientific excursions in the Near East. Besides the Old Testament and the history of the ancient Near East, her research interests include Inter-religion Dialogue, especially the dialogue between Judaism and Christianity, the debate over Orientalism, and the relationship between religion and politics.
Dr. Pruin held the position of faculty representative of the Commission for Gender Studies at Humboldt-University from 2002-2005. She is a founding member of the Program on Religion and Politics at Humboldt University and chairs the research group's transatlantic exchange project on the relationship between religion and politics in Germany and the U.S. As a DAAD/AICGS Fellow, Dr. Pruin will be working on this exchange project and on the dialogue between Judaism and Christianity in Germany and the U.S.
