Ms. Nicole Kranz
DAAD/AICGS Fellow

AICGS is pleased to welcome its newest DAAD/AICGS Fellow, Ms. Nicole Kranz. Ms. Kranz is a Fellow with Ecologic – Institute for International and European Environmental Policy in Berlin, Germany. In this position, she is involved in various projects in the environmental policy field related to water governance, public participation in environmental policy-making, sustainable production and consumption, and corporate responsibility.

Ms. Kranz earned a Masters degree in Environmental Management and Policy from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara and holds a degree in Environmental Science from the Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig, Germany. In previous appointments she has worked as a research fellow in policy analysis with the Environmental Energy Technologies Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and as a sustainability consultant for BMW Group DesignworksUSA in Los Angeles.

During her two month stay at AICGS in spring 2006, Ms. Kranz aims to analyze the German and U.S. actor networks created to advance the ten principles for good corporate citizenship established by the UN Global Compact. The approach towards this international initiative for promoting good corporate practices in the areas of environment, labor, human rights and anti-corruption has been considerably different in the two countries. The research will take a closer look at the factors determining involvement with the program in Germany and the USA and explore opportunities for mutual learning and the exchange of experience.
