Dr. Michael Kolkmann

AICGS is pleased to welcome its new DAAD/AICGS-Fellow Dr. Michael Kolkmann.

Michael Kolkmann earned a doctorate from the Martin-Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg with a dissertation on trade policy in the U.S. Congress and holds a diploma degree from the University of Potsdam.

Until earlier this year, Dr. Kolkmann worked as a research associate at the German Institute for International and Security Studies, specializing in U.S. foreign policy, the U.S. political system and transatlantic relations. In 1999 and 2000, Dr. Kolkmann served as a Congressional Fellow with the American Political Science Association. He previously worked as an intern at AICGS in the spring of 1997, when he participated in American University's Washington Semester Program.

During his two-month stay at AICGS in the spring of 2006, Dr. Kolkmann will work on a research project called "German and U.S. approaches to China policy: Chances for Cooperation?"
