Dr. Andreas JacobsAICGS is pleased to welcome its newest Die Zeit/AICGS Fellow, Dr. Andreas Jacobs. Dr. Andreas Jacobs is the Middle East Coordinator of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin. His areas of responsibility include political consulting, research, and preparatory work for the Foundation's activities regarding Islam and Muslim countries. He studied Political Science at the University of Cologne and Arabic language and literature in Tunis and Cairo; during his university education he focused his interests on Middle Eastern politics and security policy issues. Dr. Jacobs received his Master's degree in Political Science in 1995 and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cologne (2001) with a dissertation on Euro-Arab relations. Between 1998 and 2001, he was a research fellow at the Center for Political Science and European Studies at Cologne University. From 2002 to 2003, Dr. Jacobs worked for the Planning Staff of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and was appointed project officer of the Foundation's dialogue-program with Islamic Countries. Dr. Jacobs has been awarded grants from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the ZEIT Foundation. He teaches Islamic Studies at the Free University of Berlin and has published on Middle East issues, Islam, international relations theory, and Mediterranean politics.
