Mr. Christian W. E. Haub

Christian W. E. Haub is Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P), Montvale, New Jersey based operator of more than 400 supermarkets in 9 states and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Haub joined the Company in 1991, when he was elected Vice President, Development & Strategic Planning and a member of the Board of Directors.  In December 1993, he was elected President and Chief Operating Officer, and was additionally named Co-Chief Executive Officer in April 1997.  In May 1998, Mr. Haub was elected President & Chief Executive Officer. He was elected Chairman of the Board in April 2001, and assumed that office on May 1.  He became Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors in August 2005.

Mr. Haub is a Partner and Co-Chief Executive of The Tengelmann Group, Mülheim, Germany, one of the world's largest food retailing companies and the majority shareholder of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Inc.

Mr. Haub is a member of the Board of Directors of Metro, Inc., Montreal, Canada and a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Joseph's University, Philadelphia, PA.  He is also a member of YPO (Young President's Organization) Fairchester, CT, and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) at The Johns Hopkins University, Washington, DC.

Born in Tacoma, Washington in 1964, Mr. Haub is a graduate of the University of Economics, Vienna, Austria, with a master's degree in Social and Economic Sciences.
