Sue Harnett

Sue Harnett is Head of Global Reengineering at Citigroup Inc. From May 2004 to December 2007 Sue was the CEO of the consumer business in Germany and CCO. Sue has helped drive significant growth in our Wealth Management, Cards, and Retail Deposit businesses. In addition, she oversaw the launch of Citigold and a Direct Bank and executed on projects to significantly strengthen the credit and collections functions and to implement risk-based pricing. This is the second largest international business with the best efficiency ratio. She is a member of the GCG Planning Group.
She has been with Citibank for more than 25 years and worked in several leading positions in the consumer business in North America and in the EMEA-region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Before Sue came to Germany she was working for several years in Brussels for Citibank in Europe. As Retail Banking Director & Deputy CEO of EMEA she was responsible for consumer banking as well as for marketing and sales of all product groups in 25 countries. Before, she was Sales Marketing & Distribution Director for the Corporate and the Consumer Bank in Central Europe, Middle East and Africa. From 1999 to 2001 she was employed at ABN Amro Bank in the US and was responsible there for establishing an e-commerce segment.
She spent most of her professional life at Citibank in North America. From 1997 to 1999 she was Group President in Canada responsible for the credit card and for consumer banking businesses. Before, she worked as Chief Operating Officer Retail Banking and in this role reported directly to the CEO of Citibank in North America. From 1992 to 1995 she was Director of Retail Operations & Technology and also responsible for increasing customer satisfaction.
Her career started in 1979 at Citibank in Chicago. There, she was a branch manager and afterwards headed a Call Center & Complaint Resolution.
She has an MMA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University and a BA from Marquette University.
She and her husband are the proud parents of two girls.
